<Poem>

<Translation>
Red sun filled sky and earth
Clouds of fire massed into mountains
Vegetation all burnt and shrivelled up
Rivers and lakes all quite dry
Lightest silk felt too heavy to wear
Densest trees gave only wretched shade
Straw mats were unapproachable
Linen was washed three times a day
My thoughts went out of the world
To somewhere utterly alone
Far winds came from a thousand miles
Rivers and seas washed impurities away
Now I realized, the body is the affliction
At last I knew, my mind has never a wakened
Here is the way to Nirvana, the gate
To pass through to the joy of purity.
